A forty-six-year-old presidential aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Stanley Osifo, has promised to get Nigeria out of the doldrums if elected president.
He gave the assurance at APC secretariat on Airport Road in Benin, Edo State, when he formally informed members of the State Working Committee (SWC), led by Col. David Imuse (rtd), of his aspiration.
Osifo, who hails from Ovia Northeast Local Government, noted that many positive changes have happened in Nigeria ‘but there would always be room for improvement’.
He decried insecurity throughout Nigeria, and insisted some persons have not taken the bull by the horns.
Osifo, who was a presidential aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, noted that the present leaders are trying their best but ‘governance could still be better’.
He added: “I am coming as someone that is courageous, resolute and ready to deal with insecurity in Nigeria. Tackling insecurity in the country must involve all of us. I am advocating community policing, which is already working in some states. We must be security-conscious and place more emphasis on intelligence gathering.
“Some economies across the globe have come out of the COVID-19 pandemic induced downtime and are flourishing, while Nigeria’s economy is struggling. We need strong institutions in the country. With good leaders, the followers will fall in line.
“President Buhari and APC have tried in the fight against corruption, but a different approach needs to be adopted to get better results. Human capital development is also crucial. A well educated society will bring up people with character. I want the best for Nigeria.”
Imuse hailed the presidential aspirant for letting his charity begin at home, describing it as a step in the right direction.
He also wished Osifo well and hailed him for his courage, saying he would not need to campaign too much in Edo.
