Many Commissioners, cabinet aides and local government chairmen currently serving under the administration of Governor Ben Ayade in Cross River State, are now jostling to get ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for different positions in the 2023 elections. For instance, the Commissioner for Finance, Asuquo Ekpeyong jnr, is vying for the governorship ticket to succeed his boss. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Ntufam Okon Owuna is going for the Senate seat of the southern senatorial district.
Commissioner for Industries, Peter Egbe is soliciting blessings and support for his aspiration to become the party flag bearer for the position of the Obubra-Etung Federal House of Representative seat. The General Manager of Cross River State Water Board, Mr. Victor Effiom Ekpo, is eyeing the Southern senatorial district seat. Secretary to the State government, Mrs. Tina Banko One, is gunning for the position of the Federal House of representative seat for Ikom/Boki Federal constituency.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Martins Prim, is reportedly seeking the party’s ticket for the Northern Senatorial district seat of the State. Some council chairmen and chairpersons are not left out in the jostle for the 2023 elective positions. The Chairperson for Biase LGA, Mrs. Ada Egwu, is aspiring for the position of the Federal House of Representative for the Akamkpa-Biase federal constituency.
There are other local government council chairmen currently seeking the APC tickets for various positions. The Chairman of Calabar Municipal, Chief Nta Eke, is seeking nomination to contest the Odukpani -Calabar Municipal Federal Constituency seat. Also, the chairman of Akamkpa LGA, Hon. Linus Etim Bassey, is seeking the APC ticket for the state assembly in Akamkpa 2 State Constituency.
