Ogbomoso Club chief to Nigerians: help build communities

International finance expert and businessman, Akin Oladeji-JohnBrown, has urged Nigerians to participate in the socio-economic and cultural affairs of their communities to contribute to national development.

The newly-elected President of the prestigious Ogbomoso Recreation Club (ORC) believes that participation in community activities is usually very low in Nigeria.

He said in a statement that community mobilisation for social, economic and political development has become a herculean task.

“Nigerians want good things in life. However, they prefer to pursue their economic interests and neglect our collective interests.

“It is important to get involved in our community activities so we can develop our commonwealth,” Oladeji-JohnBrown said.

He appealed to members to be committed to the objectives of the club as well as participate in its activities to achieve the goals set by its founding fathers.

The club president said he would network with several socio-cultural organisations in Ogbomoso as well as sons and daughters all over the world to improve the well-being of the ancient city.

According to Oladeji-JohnBrown, it is important to network with other community-based organisations at home and abroad to help uplift the people’s standard of living.

He paid tribute to both the founding fathers of ORC and the outgoing executive committee.

Oladeji-JohnBrown is the Group Managing Director of FB Services Group, a diversified services and investment company with operations in several jurisdictions.

He holds degrees from the University of Lagos, Oxford University and the University of Hertfordshire.

Other members of the new exco are Prof Olajide Ajao, Prof Job Oladeebo, Prof Samuel Atiba, Shittu Oladimeji, Ayokunnu Oyeleke, Jimoh Adewale, among others.

Ogbomoso Recreation Club, an elitist socio-cultural and sporting association, was incorporated in 1989.
