IPAC disowns PDP’s claim on Osun polls

INTER-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Osun State has dissociated itself from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over claims the government wants to connive with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the July 16 governorship election.

A statement by Chairman Wale Adebayo, and Secretary Tosin Odeyemi, said the statement credited to PDP that the government wanted to rig the election ,was a figment of its imagination.

Director-General of Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization (SAACO) Sunday Bisi alleged that government was scheming to hijack INEC by populating electoral officials with the governor’s nominees.

According to him, a governor’s aide met with INEC’s officials at Osogbo with the aim of doctoring the list of presiding officers to conduct the July elections.

The statement reads: “We are not part of the allegation that INEC’s ad hoc staff list is to be doctored in connivance with the state government. Instead of campaigning, and convincing the people why they should vote for its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the PDP has been engaging in a diatribe that will not do anybody any good.

“Unfortunately for the PDP, they have no record to substantiate their claims. The ad hoc staff recruitment by INEC was done online, so allegations by Mr Sunday Bisi are childishly silly and immature. We will advise the PDP and its candidate to not plunge our state into needless bloodshed by unnecessary allegations. They should prepare for election instead of a campaign of calumny.”
