An aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Nurudeen Agbaje, has withdrawn from the contest.
Agbaje said he will be donating his campaign structure to another aspirant, Gbolahan Ogunleye, to represent Ikorodu Constituency I.
Ogunleye, a former Sole Administrator of Ikorodu Local Government, is the son of former Deputy Governor Prince Abiodun Ogunleye.
According to Agbaje, this move was to show regard for Prince Ogunleye, who is the party’s Apex Leader in Ikorodu Division.
Ogunleye hailed Agbaje for his gesture, saying his focus would be to attract projects to Ikorodu.
“The people should expect proper representation in the assembly as I will table their actual needs and work diligently to get beneficial projects,” he said.
He advised the youths to participate actively in the upcoming elections.
Former Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development Lanre Balogun said Ogunleye will be a good representative.
“There will be dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots. Gbolahan is a bright candidate who was born into politics. Four other contestants who have not only picked their forms but have the strength have also denounced their aspiration to support him,” he said.
Secretary to Ikorodu Local Government Lateef Adesina, thanked Agbaje for his loyalty and support.
