UKEJE: Good day, in 2016, I retired from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS). I complained to you about my accrued benefit arising from the 10 per cent rise okayed by President Muhammadu Buhari, which was sent to our PFA, mine being Stanbic IBTC Pension.
I went to their office and they said my money had not been sent to them. But when I showed the staff member The Nation publication on my case, he turned back to say that they were paying the benefit in batches. Shortly after you pushed for me, they paid my money.
I thank the newspaper. God will continue to bless the company.
TAYO: Good day, my name is Tayo. My late mother has two Retirement Savings Account PINs with two different pension managers with funds in each account. How do I process her benefits? Kindly reply.
UBULA: My name is Ubula. I retired from the services of RMAFC in 2010 and started drawing my pension two years later.
My PFA is Premium Pension. I have two complaints. The first is that my monthly pension premium is less than 50 per cent of my final salary. The second is that the lump sum paid to me is meagre. Can the review of the retirement benefit by the Commission redress my complaints?
CHRISTIAN: Greetings Omobola. My name is Christian. I retired from the Federal Service as lecturer on December 31, 2019. Last November, I changed from Pal Pensions to Stanbic Pensions, yet, I have not got a kobo since retirement.
OGUNJIDE: I am Ogunjide. My complaint is on my unpaid accrued right.
I retired in January, last year and have completed my online and physical verifications with my PFA, Stanbic IBTC Pension. The accrued rights for January to April, last year were released, unfortunately, mine was not. May I know why? Thank you.
IVARA: Good day. My name is lvara, a retired police officer. The 2.5 per cent approved for pensioners by the President has not been paid to me by my PFA, Premium Pension, despite asking me to sign an empty template.
Please, when are they paying me the money? What is the position of things? I want to hear from Premium Pension.
ADEOYE: Greetings. Since FCMB Pensions took over my account from AIICO Pension, l lose N2,000 monthly. Kindly help me.
IBITAYO: My name is Ibitayo. My employer’s name is Superflux International Limited. I left employment in April 2012.
My PFA, Stanbic IBTC Pension, said I could only take 25 per cent of my entitlement when I am 50.
I was 50 last year and I have applied for payment. After documentation, Static IBTC Pension requested for the banker’s confirmation of my signature. I have obliged them, but they have refused to pay, saying they were waiting for PenCom.
I would like PenCom to tell me my status.
CHUKWUKADIBIA: Good day Ms. I am Chukwukadibia. I registered with Premium Pensions Limited when I was a Constable. I registered with my phone number but lost it. I cannot receive alerts on my RSA from Premium.
I am now an Inspector of Police. Kindly help me to resolve this issue, so I can get alerts. Thanks.
PENCOM: The complainant is advised to visit the PFA – Premium Pensions Limited – to update his biodata and request for SMS.
ABDULLAHI: Good day, my name is Abdullahi, the son of late Inspector Etubi. You earlier informed me that everything had been settled.
We were asked to provide our father’s name and RSA PIN to enable the commission to investigate further. We since have provided them. We were told in The Nation publication that we are among the next batch to be paid. But we are yet to be settled. Kindly assist.
PENCOM: Investigation shows that the information we asked for were not provided in our database. Kindly visit your PFA to ensure that your documents were submitted to the Commission.
OKOH: Good day, Omobola. I really want to appreciate your efforts in helping senior citizens to resolve their ‘nagging’ post-service issues through the pages in The Nation newspaper. It is as gratifying as it’s salutary. May bless the newspaper.
The platform has gone a long way to bring the pension reform to the fore for pensioners. However, I like to plead, though not within the purview of the platform, but related to pensioners’ handicap, the National Housing Fund (NHF), to which workers make contributions. It was expected that at retirement, the retiree gets his contributions refunded. It’s unfortunate that after a year or two year of retirement, neither the Federal Mortgage Bank or the National Housing Fund is saying or doing anything to refund the accumulated and earned contributions.
We would appreciate it, therefore, if your platform would extend the gesture to this issue. We really appreciate your good works as national service to humanity – Okoh from Abuja.
PENCOM: Please be advised that the above complaint is not within the purview of the National Pension Commission. As such, please re-direct the complaint to the necessary authority. Thank you.
THE NATION: The newspaper will intervene. Therefore, UKEJE, TAYO, UBULA, IBITAYO, CHRISTIAN and OGUNJIDE should look out for the newspaper next week for responses from PENCOM.
