Three killed, hydropower chief abducted in Kogi

Gunmen yesterday abducted a member of the Governing Council of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Isah Ozi-Salami, in Okene, Kogi State.

Ozi-Salami was going to the mosque early in the morning  when he was seized and taken away.

The mosque is a stone’s throw from his house in Ogaminana area of Adavi Local Government Area.

Another person, also going to pray in the mosque, was killed by the hoodlums.

A witness said the man was killed when he attempted to raise the alarm as the gunmen seized Ozi-Salami.

Police spokesman William Aya confirmed the incident, saying that security had been stepped up in the area.

In Ondo, gunmen killed a soldier and abducted a Lebanese engineer at Ogbonmo Ijebu-Owo, Owo Local Government area.

Witnesses said the gunmen also killed the driver of the abducted expatriate.

The soldier was his security aide.

Police spokesperson Fumilayo Odunlami said efforts were on to rescue the Lebanese.
