Abducted children of murdered ex NPC commissioner regains freedom

Kidnapped children of the recently murdered former Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) Zakari Umaru-Kigbu have regained freedom.

Gunmen had last Sunday around 12:10 am stormed Umar-Kigbu’s residence in Azuba Bashayi, Lafia local government area of Nasarawa State, killed him and whisked away his children.

Confirming the release of the diseased children to our correspondent, Nasarawa Police spokesman, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said the Command after locating the kidnappers’ hideout, immediately mobilised personnel to go after them.

He explained that the children were rescued due to the pressure mounted on them by the personnel at a mountainous location in Nasarawa Eggon local government area.

According to him, the children of the diseased were released at 11: am on Thursday.

The command spokesman added after rescuing the children, they were rushed to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital DASH for proper medical examination, noting they had since reunited with their family.

His words: “The personnel of the command rescued the victims around the mourtainous location in Nasarawa Eggon LGA of the state and were rushed to DASH for a medical examination and after which they were reunited with their family.”

“We were able to locate the hide out of the Kidnappers at mourtainous location in Nasarawa Eggon LGA and due to the pressure our personnel mounted on them the Kidnappers were forced to release their victims,” he added.

He said the Command has no knowledge of any ransom paid for their release.
