English Premier League side Newcastle United are reportedly ready to offer a ‘monster offer’ in their pursuit of Napoli’s Nigeria international striker, Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe at the moment, following his brilliant returns of 18 goals and six assists in 32 games for the Partenopeans in the just concluded Italian Serie A season with a host of EPL sides including Arsenal and Manchester United ready to acquire his service.
But Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com has yet hinted that Saudi Arabia -backed Newcastle are set to splash big money and mostly in excess of Napoli’s £85million asking price .
ahead of the summer transfer window
“Newcastle are preparing a ‘monster offer’ to sign Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window,” claimed the Italian news outlet.“Arsenal had been touted as a possible destination with the Gunners desperate to bring in a superstar signing up front but the Gunners have reportedly been put off by Napoli’s £85million asking price.
“That could open the door for Newcastle to swoop in.”
Incidentally, Napoli are not ready to let go their prized- asset for cheap and it was suggested that the Partenopeans won’t drop below their £85m asking price, which may test Newcastle’s new owners.
Just last week, Napoli, according to MondoNapoli, are looking to close the door early on bids for Osimhen hence won’t stop listening to offers for the forward from the 8th of July.
Asides from it being a way to keep Osimhen at the club for at least another year, it would also ensure stability and prevent distractions in the team ahead of the new season, which begins in August.
