‘Owo church killings stain on conscience of Nigeria’

Prince-Adewole-Adebayo

Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential aspirant Prince Adewole Adebayo has described the mass killing at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, at the weekend as a stain on the conscience of the nation.

He said it was evidence of complacency on the Federal Government, which he advised should take a decisive action against it.

Several people were killed when armed men stormed the church, detonated bombs and opened fire on worshippers.

The killers, four in number, were reported to have arrived the premises of the church around 11.30 am in a Volkswagen Gulf disguised as worshippers before detonating the bombs.

“It is with deepest sadness that I heard of the killings at the Catholic church in Owo, Ondo State.

“Wanton destruction of lives, peace and sanctity in the sanctuary of faith by evil forces is a stain on the conscience of Nigeria and final whistle against complacency. Government must act,” Adebayo said.

Among those killed include pregnant women, children, family members and elderly.
