An All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State, Ibrahim Sikiru, has said he lost the primary because party leaders in the constituency were not sincere with the delegates’ list.
According to him, the party leaders hijacked the primary and barred him from carrying out his statutory role as an aspirant.
The incumbent, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, was declared winner of the election.
Sikiru, who addressed reporters in Akure yesterday, said he was sure of victory until the process was hijacked. He vowed to pursue a reversal of the process through party mechanism for the anomaly to be addressed.
But Sikiru’s allegations were countered by party chairman in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area, Saliu Mumini, who said the process was open and transparent. He said Sikiru also congratulated the winner.
