GUNMEN suspected to be bandits have killed four persons and injured three others in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The Nation gathered that the affected communities in Alkaleri are Tudun Wadan ADA and Old Jamari Sabuwa Garin Jauro Bano.

Residents were said to have raised an alarm upon sighting the bandits who were on a mission to abduct some persons in the area. But upon seeing the youths who had mobilised themselves, the gunmen fled and abandoned their victims.

However, in the middle of the confusion, four persons were killed while three others were injured, as they were shot by the bandits, in their bid to escape.

One of the residents who pleaded anonymity, told our reporter that the attackers arrived in the communities around 11:45 pm on Thursday.

“They came on motorcycles and when people raised the alarm, they started shooting sporadically and fled to the bush after killing four people.”

He said  the security personnel, including the Police and the Nigerian Army have visited the communities to douse the tension.

When contacted, Spokesman of the Bauchi State Police Command, Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, did not pick up our reporter’s call or reply to the text messages sent to him.
