The management of Glorious Vision University (GVU) at Ogwa in Edo State, owned by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, is excited with the change in name from Samuel Adegboyega University (SAU).
The Acting Registrar of GVU, Mr. Oluyemi Esan, in an online statement, said that the name change was approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Esan also made it known that the NUC’s approval, which took immediate effect, was communicated to the private university through a letter, dated June 14, and signed by the commission’s Deputy Executive Secretary, Administration, Chris Maiyaki, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The registrar pointed out that the change in the name of the higher institution followed an appeal by the proprietor.
Esan said: “At the moment, all the academic programmes run by the university have full accreditation status.”
The higher institution was granted operational licence by NUC on March 7, 2011, as the 45th private university and 117th on the overall in the Nigerian university system.
