The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a swipe at the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu over his recent public comments on the upcoming governorship election in the state. Adamu had directed APC members to “go down to the trenches” in Osun, saying that the APC had zero tolerance for electoral defeat.

But in a statement yesterday by the spokesman for the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, the party described Adamu’s comments as inciting, saying that no amount of incitement can save the APC from defeat in the election. Reminding the APC chairman that elections are not warfare, the PDP said his comments cannot find accommodation within the ambits of the law. The main opposition party further described the APC chairman’s comments as reckless and irresponsible.
It added that the comments showed the level of the APC’s aversion to peaceful electoral process and disdain for the democratic right, freedom and sovereignty of the people of Osun State to freely and peacefully choose their leaders. “Abdullahi Adamu’s comment further confirms that the APC is in mortal fear of Senator Adeleke’s soaring popularity, realising that Governor Oyetola is no match for Senator Adeleke; a blunt reality for which the APC National Chairman has now become frenetic,” PDP said.
