The Nigerian born–US based artist released a sophomore EP titled “Wayback Love”. The 3-track EP features previously released single ‘Honeygram’ and “Go crazy’.
She fuses authentic Afrobeat rhythms, melodic synths, up-tempo beats, harmonious sound and even tones, to get her listeners to get more acquainted, whilst offering a unique perspective on the trending Afropop sound.
Reforming a new age of Afro beats hit makers, Hika has already started aligning herself to leave an outstanding impact on the Afro beats’ scene.
Describing what sets her sound apart from others, she says; “My kind of song is always one where the vocals are delivered to perfection while the simplicity of the melody will make you want to sing along”.
Her superstardom came very quickly and at a young age, but she would tell you she’s been planning for it her entire life. “I started music officially in 2017, initially, I wanted to just be a song writer, but then no one wants to patronize and I ended up having too many songs written by me with no one to sing it, that made me consider it myself, and my friends see me as a star that also encouraged me”, she says.
The artist is destined for stardom, with her current tracks doing the numbers and has so far garnered over 100k plus streams across all platforms. Speaking on her debut track ‘Honeygram’, she says that it was formed based on patient love. ‘The single was inspired by love, I am reaching out to ladies who will always do everything to keep their man, those who can encourage their man to victory – the patient ones.
The single ‘Honeygram’ was like a freestyle in the studio but ironically; it became my debut single.’ – Hika. The song fuses elements of dancehall and Afrobeat into an infectious beat met with Hika’s powerful and distinct vocal style.
She went ahead to drop ‘AJASCO’, a single with the elements of Afrobeats and dancehall blended together. The song speaks on the two sides of a situation, on one side is the hardworking people and on the other is the nonchalant people.
The artiste advises the hardworking, that while working hard one should take a break, relax and enjoy the good things of life.
Hika’s Afro Pop tune is catchy and supreme, with melody and lyrics that go beyond expectations and can be sure to continuously please the ears with another banger from back-to-back.
