The defection of some prominent members of Sokoto chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday last week to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has provoked reaction from the APC in the state which said it has drawn a battle line in two dimensions.
The first between APC and masses in the state on one hand and the selfish political mercenaries and their pay masters on the other, according to the State Chairman of the party Isah Sadiq Achida who spoke to reporters in Sokoto.
Prominent among numerous others who defected at a grand rally reception were three governorship aspirants of the APC at the recently- concluded primary were former Minister of Transport Yusuf Suleiman, Abdullahi Balarabe Salame and Aliyu Abubakar Gumbi.
According to Achida, the political wanderers that staged a show of shame, danced naked in the market square which only ended in inflicting incurable political injury on themselves and nailing their political coffins.
The party chairman said it was instructive to note that none of the so-called defectors gave any acceptable reason that attracted him to his unfortunate journey to the PDP bandwagon.
“We, in the APC, deem it as political suicide for the defectors to have aligned themselves with the failed government of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; a government that lacks accountability; a government without focus, a government that has impoverished Sokoto State through doubtful financial deals.”
