The Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, has encouraged Nigerians to ensure they get their voters cards to participate in the elections next year.
Speaking during a rally organised by the APC Nigerian Women in Politics (ANWIP) led by Princess Bola Kazeem, to mobilise the women to get registered, in Abuja she said, “We would continue sensitization our people. We need to continue to do this to ensure all our women are properly registered and be ready to vote.”
She expressed confidence that the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would carry women along in his government if he emerges as the winner of the election.
She said, “We encourage all our neighbours, our wards, our children that are of age to make sure that they come out and vote on that day. It is not not going to be a day that boys would go to the pitch. It is not going to be a day that our daughters would be at home to watch TV. We have to make sure that we get registered, get our permanent voters cards and make sure we make use of or it.”
On Tinubu carrying the women along, she said,” He has done it in Lagos State. We are aware that he is the first governor that has highest percentage of women in his administration as the governor of Lagos State. So he is an he for she. So we believe when he gets there as president of our dear nation in 2023, he is a going to repeat what he done in Lagos State and every women would be carried along. He respects women a lot. He knows we are the mothers of the nation. And he he knows the power of women and knows no women should be left. He would be serious with the women.”
Also speaking, the chairman South West Agenda for Tinubu (SWAGA), North Central alliance, Kogi State, Engr Ahmed Rufai, encouraged the women to get more involved in political activities.
He said, “If you check the percentage of voters in any election, women are always about 75 percent. So they are much more committed than the men, much more patient. So we are mobilizing them to participate and come out and get their PVCs and also mobilise their children and friends to also get their PVCs so their voice can be heard and their votes can count.”
