Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Osun West Senatorial District Tadese Raheem, has berated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Adeleke Ademola, for promising to site a university campus in Iwo.
Senator Adeleke had promised to site the communication campus of the Osun State University in Iwo if he is elected governor. According to him, the current administration has marginalised the community in infrastructural development.
But Raheem, an indigene of Iwo, said ‘Adeleke goofed in his campaign of deceit’.
The senatorial hopeful, in a statement yesterday, noted that since Governor Oyetola assumed office, he has never paid lip service to Iwo’s development. According to him, the governor has rehabilitated more roads and even approved reconstruction of some in the last one month, which the monarch was thankful for and promising 90,000 votes for the APC.
The statement reads: “Senator Ademola Adeleke has lost touch with the reality because of July 16 defeat which is staring at him. He is just promising mirage and shadow. He is promising what does not exist because there is nothing like the College of Communication at Osun State University.
“Recently, the state government approved the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 55.6 km Oshogbo-Iwo-Oyo State boundary Road. The administration of Governor Oyetola has rehabilitated some township roads in Iwoland, such as Odo Ori-Oja Ale-Adeeke road, Bowen-Oja Ale-Kaara Road, Kuta Road and presently Atanda road is under construction. Oyetola has rehabilitated 35 Primary Health Centres in Iwoland and they are all operating well.
“Iwo Water Works is undergoing major rehabilitation, with extension of service to some of the communities which have not been served in the past. It’s well known to Iwo people that Governor Oyetola was instrumental to the establishment of a Federal College of Education in the community.
“Oyetola is committed to doing more for the people of Iwoland in his second term. As a result of this, they are resolute to re-elect him for another term on July 26 because he has performed well for the ancient town and the citizens are willing to repay him with massive votes.”
