Two of the five persons who drowned while fleeing the scene of the fire at Matrix Energy Group have been confirmed as students of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.
The Student Union Government of PTI said in a statement yesterday that both students were on industrial attachment (IT) when the incident occurred.
Five bodies were found floating on Warri River three days after the fire on Friday, July 8, 2022.
Matrix Energy had earlier released a statement saying there were no casualties.
The institution dismissed the firm’s statement.
