All Progressives Congress (APC) Organising Secretaries yesterday called for crisis resolution and reconciliation with aggrieved members ahead of next year’s general election.

The Forum of Organising Secretaries urgently urged the party leadership to initiate the reconciliation to avoid the escalation of conflicts in some state chapters.

Rising from the meeting of Zonal and State Organising Secretaries at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, chaired by the National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Arugungu and his deputy, Nze Chidi, they advised the platform to put its house in order.

The theme of the meeting was: “Discussion on how to streamline the responsibilities of the Zonal and State Organising Offices for effective programme delivery.” The forum called for the empowerment of the zonal and state organising offices ahead of the general election.

Reflecting on the outcome of the weekend Osun State governorship election, the forum stressed the need for genuine reconciliation of aggrieved members at national and state levels before next year’s polls.

Arugungu, who declared the meeting open, assured that the party will soon embark on reconciliation and present a united front for the elections.

The former deputy governor of Kebbi State told the party officers that their offices are critical to the electoral success of the party.

He said: “You are the engine room of the party. Your offices are pivotal to the electoral success of the party,” hence the meeting for them to synergies and plan ahead for the forthcoming national election.

Arugungu said the party was able to successfully upload the form EC9 for candidates for elections ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline.

He said that APC was in the process of uploading the nomination forms of candidates, adding that it has also effectively complied with the INEC timelines for the general election.

Hailing the officers for the success of the congresses, the special National Convention and presidential primary, Arugungu reminded them that the task ahead required more commitment.

Zonal Organising Secretary, Southsouth, Blessing Agbomhere commended Arugungu for bringing the organising secretaries together and pledged their loyalty to the party and the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC).
