Encomiums for ex-Lagos Speaker Kinyomi

Kinyomi

People, who yesterday attended the fidau of the late ex-speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abayomi Kinyomi, poured encomiums on him.

The fidau, led by clerics from the Ansarudeen Society, was held at the deceased’s home in Amuwo Odofin. It was attended by incumbent Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, represented by Deputy Speaker Wasiu Sanni-Eshinlokun; the deceased’s colleagues, family and friends.

Imam Abdulrafiu Yusuf described the late Kinyomi as a “devout Muslim who was supportive to every cause of the faith and humanity.”

He advised the children to uphold his legacy in unity and sustain his commitment to the Ansarudeen Society, especially the Festac branch.

Eshinlokun described Kinyomi as a unifier and humble leader in and out of office. He said the deceased had earned himself immortalisation on the list of speakers, as their busts would soon be unveiled in a dedicated garden on the Assembly premises at Alausa, Ikeja.

A former chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Ayo Adewale, said the late Kinyomi was a father-figure, humble to a fault and who, throughout his life, stood for peace and progress in the council area.
