Five widowed bakers are to receive N500,000 each at the third Dewdrops Uncut Learning Empowerment Initiative, it was learnt.
Convener and Chief Executive of Dew Drops Cakes Mrs Ezinne Okonkwo said the theme of the seminar, holding from September 5 to 7 at Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, is: “Uncut Learning 3: The Craft Revamp”.
Okonkwo said: “It’s a platform for bakers to learn.
“It is an impactful event which we are bringing to Africa.
“It’s my baby project which was birthed in 2017 and my way of giving back to society.
“We saw the need to rebrand and be more innovative which led to this year’s theme. ‘The Craft Revamp’.”
This year, she said, there would be training with A-list bakers like Yolanda Gampp from Toronto, Canada, and top Nigerian bakers in diaspora.
She said bakers, who are widows, would be given grants by the sponsors.
“It is also a platform to address issues facing the industry,” Okonkwo said.
