Police inspector, Temenu Boluwaji, was killed yesterday as gunmen attacked the Okuta Elerinla Police Division in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The attack took place at about 1am after the assailants breached the facility’s fence, The Nation learnt.

Before he was hit, one of the two policeman quickly relocated detained suspects especially women to another area of the station while the other engaged the hoodlums in a shootout.
Sources said it was a torchlight switched on by one of the policemen that gave him away.
The gunmen fired in his direction, killing him instantly.
“During the crossfire, one of our gallant station guards was hit by a bullet; he later died on his way to hospital, police spokesman Fumilayo Odunlami said.
