Four persons, all male adults, died early yesterday when a Mazda bus conveying them rammed into the rear of an unmarked truck on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident happened at about 6.25am on the Iperu Bridge corridor of the road.
Six persons, including a male baby, were injured in the crash in which 10 passengers were involved, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) command in Ogun State said.
Public Education Officer Florence Okpe attributed the crash to excessive speed and light sign violation.
“The Mazda bus driver who was at high speed crashed into the moving truck from behind due to light defect on the truck ie the truck rear lights made to signal Vehicles from behind could not function.
“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS IPARA MORGUE
The impact of the crash is not obstructing the flow of traffic and the crashed vehicles are in MTD Police custody Ogere,” she said.
