ROTARY Club of Onigbongbo in Lagos has stressed the importance of tree planting to humanity.
Its President Razaq Salau spoke during execution of its tree planting at Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Secondary School, Maryland, Lagos.
He said Rotary International attaches importance to trees and included it to coincide with 2022 Planet Earth programme.
He added: “This month is basically for Planet Earth, which is the seventh area of focus of Rotary International… Tree planting is aimed at protecting the environment and life.
Salau said the club was creating awareness on tree preservation and planting in Onigbongbo.
As part of its coming 40th anniversary, the club would adopt a garden on a major road not far from its host community.
