Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule has raise the alarm that terror groups fleeing from Zamfara, Niger, Kebbi and Kaduna States are re-grouping in parts of the State.
Sule stated this during an emergency security meeting at the Government House Lafia to strategise on tackling challenges.
He said the meeting was to take proactive measures considering the security situation in the country and particularly within the FCT where over 800 inmates escaped from the Kuje correctional facility recently.
He raise the alarm over noticed movements of suspected bandits fleeing from Niger, Zamfara,Kebbi and Kaduna States with their large movements in Rugan Madaki both in Karu local government as well as Wamba and Toto local government areas.
The security meeting is coming few days after ordering the closure of schools with a view of reviewing the security situation in the state and take appropriate actions.
He confirmed security reports indicate following the influx of these suspected bandits, there has been noticeable increase in cases of kidnapping within the last two months.
Chairman of Lafia local government council, Hon Aminu Muazu Maifata banned all motorcycles operating in Lafia from 8pm to 6am as well as tricycles from 10pm to 6am.
The council chair took the decision after an emergency security council meeting involving all traditional rulers in the council led by the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage rtd and head if security agencies in the local government.
Sule said based on this development, coupled with the ongoing efforts of his administration, it has become necessary to convene the meeting, with a view to renewing strategies.
He further explained the decision to shutdown schools , except those writing their final NECO examination was to forestall any eventualities, adding that arrangements have been put in place to beef up security where students are still writing examinations.
Police Commissioner CP Soyemi Adesina said security men will henceforth increase their patrol and raids, so that all these bad people will be brought to book.
He call on the people to always transmit to necessary security agencies to quick response.
