Reigning 100m hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan is expected to be one of the special guests of honour to grace this year’s ADRON Games to be held between November 10 and 12 at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex in Lagos.
This much has been confirmed by the management of Adron homes with words rife that Amusan would be accorded a special reception for her feat at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon where she broke the 100m Hurdles record with an impressive 12:12 secs race en route to her gold medal race in the final where she posted a wind assisted 12:06 secs in the final.
The Group Managing Director (GMD) of ADRON homes and Properties Ltd, Aare Adetola Emmanuel-King who is a native of Remo like Tobi also, is proud of the golden girl hence the decision to host her.
“We are excited by Tobi’s golden feats at Oregon and this is why we have decided to honor her during the yearly Adron games for staffs and students in Lagos in November,” Emmanuelking said.
He stressed that this year’s ADRON Games would accommodate the huddles events to be contested for by universities in honour of Tobi’s significant achievement in the sport.
The Adron Games is an annual grassroot sport competition organised by ADRON homes and Properties Ltd as a way to encourage more governmental and corporate participation in sports.
The organizers of the event had in the past honoured various former sports icons including Samson Siasia ,Mary Onyali , Falilat Ogunkoya , Daniel Amokachi , Austine Eguavoen amongst others.
