The Mailantarki Care FC have emerged winners of the 50th edition of the Norway Cup 2022 beating host KFUM FK 2-0 in the main pitch of the Ekeberg Sports Complex in Oslo on Saturday
This comes barely seven days after winning the 2022 Dana Cup International Youth Championship in Denmark last week, becoming first for a club to go all the way and win both senior categories in the two scandinavian countries in the same year.
The hosts KFUM were undone a few minutes before the break after Muhammed Mouro’s beautifully inviting cross from the right flank was brilliantly converted by Miko Dalha in the centre to send the Mailantarki’s Norwegian supporters into wild jubilation from the stands.
Abdulaziz Maiyadi who netted a beauty goal minutes before the end of the entertaining encounter emerged highest goal scorer for the team with 12 goals followed by Miko Dalha with 8 goals to the delight of the fans who came out in their numbers to watch them.
Award-winning coach former Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba who is the Mailantarki’s Technical Director, described the team successes in Denmark and Norway as unprecedented.
“The Dana cup and Norway cup were won in two weeks and we are the first African team to achieve that feat,” noted Garba who led Nigeria to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013.“It’s indeed a moment of great joy, and happiness to win two international tournaments in the first year of formation of this academy.”
