The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has ordained over 15,000 clerics during the church’s 70th annual convention.
The ceremony, which was supervised by RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, held at the old auditorium of the Redeemed City at Mowe on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, yesterday.
The clerics were presented to the General Overseer for ordination by the outgoing National Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Joseph Obayomi, who said the figure comprised 10,584 Deacons and Deaconesses as well as 4,424 Assistant Pastors.
It was the second day of the 70th convention of the church, which kicked off on Monday with the graduation of the students of the Redeemed Christian Bible College (RCBC).
The ordination was handled by the Assistant General Overseers and their team of assistants.
While the deacons and deaconesses were ordained by the laying of hands, the assistant pastors were ordained by the laying of hands and anointing oil.
Pastor Adeboye decreed unction into the lives of new ordained clerics.
In his sermon, Pastor Joseph Olaiya congratulated the church for making the 70th year landmark.
He advised the newly ordained clerics to go out and enforce the jubilee that Christ made available to all men through prayers and continuous preaching of the gospel.
One of the newly ordained assistant pastor, New Year Aweai, told The Nation that he was elated to have become a minister of the gospel.
Aweai, who is an Engineering graduate, promised to dedicate his life to winning more souls for God.
Also, one of the newly ordained deacons from Kwara State, Adejo Simeon, praised God for becoming a cleric to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
