The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has temporary lifted respective bans placed on Isa Ali, Andy Okpe and 19 other players for an involvement in match manipulation in a 2020/21 Ghana Premier League game., according to Angel FM’s Saddick Adams
Ghanaian journalist, Saddick Adams of Angel FM reported that a total of twenty-one (21) footballers were slapped with bans by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after being found guilty of AshantiGold SC vs Inter Allies match fixing scandal.
The Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee’s decision related to a Ghana Premier League game played at the end of the 2020/2021 season when AshantiGold beat Inter Allies by 7-0.
Although the details of the pronouncement from CAS has not been officially released, the news from CAS will be a relief to the Super Eagles B head coach, Salisu Yusuf who has listed Ali and Okpe among the players for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers with the Galaxies of Ghana.
While their current club in Nigeria, Remo Stars will also be happy to have the issue resolved before their campaign in their CAF Confederation Cup with both players meant to play an integral role in the competition where they have been pitted against AS FAN of Morocco in the first preliminary round.
