A political stalwart in Cross River State, Chief Patrick Okomiso, has felicitated with former Military President, Gen Ibrahim Babangida, on his 81st birthday.

Okomiso, a senatorial candidate of the Central Senatorial District of the Labour Party, in a statement made available to The Nation in Abuja described Gen Babangida as a statesman and detribalized leader who has contributed immensely to the development of the country.

He described him as a patriot who is dedicated to the the unity, peace and stability of Nigeria.

He said even though retired, the former president continues to play a significant role in stabilizing the polity.

“He is one man who truly loves Nigeria. Nigerian politicians have a lot to learn from him to be nation builders, as no one can build this nation except us Nigerians. Nigeria’s history can never be complete without mentioning him. May God continue to grant him many more years in good health as the country still needs his wise counsel,” Okomiso said.
