Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has inaugurated the 5th edition of the Bemore Summer Bootcamp for girls, which was held at Mabest College, Akure.

Conceived in 2017, the Bemore Empowered Girls Foundation has since its conception organised a two-week summer camp for young female secondary school pupils in the state to advance knowledge in ICT, solar and other life-enhancing skills.

Mrs Akeredolu said she established the foundation to give young girls the opportunities women in her generation lacked, noting that the foundation was aimed at exposing the girl-child to STEME and bringing them at par with their counterparts worldwide.

She said the foundation groomed girls as a special breed without greed, adding that this would prevent them from joining bad gangs.

Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa hailed the foundation, noting that the initiative would help the new generation of girls to build capacity in ICT, solar energy and the advancement of STEM.

The special guest of honour, the Orangun of Oke Ila in Osun State, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, said empowering girls would develop the nation.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Olusola Oke, said he was delighted that Bemore would make the girls self-reliant and fill gaps in the educational policy of Ondo State.
