Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President Olumide Akpata has said any lawyer found complicit in the viral video of the looting of the association’s conference materials at the collection centre will be prosecuted.

“I hereby assure the generality of Nigerian legal practitioners that any lawyer found complicit in vandalisation of conference booths, theft of phones, assault on officials will be prosecuted,” he said.

Akpata said this while addressing the annual general meeting (AGM) of the association at Eko Atlantic on Victoria Island in Lagos.

The NBA president, who explained the circumstances surrounding the delay in the distribution of the conference materials to members at once, ascribed the development to the poor quality of the bags.

He said this was the reason the association rejected them.

Akpata said the decision was taken to ensure that the lawyers got the best quality of the bags for the conference.

“No one said we will not encounter difficulties in life. But the hallmark is how quickly do we resolve such difficulties?” he queried rhetorically.
