The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the promotion of 4,525 officers who participated in the 2021 promotion, upgrading and advancement exercise.
NIS Comptroller General Isah Idris Jere announced the promotions in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Amos Okpu, yesterday in Abuja.
Okpu was promoted to the rank of Deputy Comptroller.
A breakdown of the promotions showed that 145 Assistant Comptrollers of Immigration got promoted to the rank of Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, while 99 Chief Superintendents of Immigration were promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller of Immigration.
Also, 307 Superintendents of Immigration were moved to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Immigration, while 338 Deputy Superintendents of Immigration got promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Immigration.
Another 589 Assistant Superintendents of Immigration (I) are now Deputy Superintendents and 794 Assistant Superintendents of Immigration (II) got promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (I).
The NIS promoted 21 Inspectors of Immigration to Assistant Superintendents of Immigration (II).
The Nation reports that 1,254 personnel were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (II) and 979 junior personnel who have acquired higher qualifications and demonstrated high skills and competences were upgraded to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (II).
