Tackle Nigeria’s problems from roots – group

“Nigeria is not doing well, Nigeria is underperforming, but trees do not grow from the top; therefore to solve Nigeria’s problems, we must deal with it from the roots.”

The above was the submission of Bishop Dr. Priscilla Otuya, President, Mothers of the Nations and Founder, International Federation of Female Ministers Groups and Organisation (IFFMGO).

Speaking at the first official outing of IFFMGO in Lagos, yesterday, with the theme ‘Stop the Satanic Propaganda Against Nigeria’, Bishop Otuya said, “This Satanic propaganda being perpetrated by some people is the only reason Nigeria is where it is 60 years after independence.”

She said “Nigerians have been so dehumanised that we now live by fate rather than by faith; and this is not acceptable.”

She also called for more participation of women and the church in politics.”There is too much relegation of women in this country and that is not of God.”

She condemned a situation where a delegation of the Nigerian government would go abroad on an official mission and there would be no single women among them.

“Are there no Deborah or Esther in this country? It is time for you, our fathers, to look inwards. We have come like mothers to partner with God for the birthing of a new Nigeria.”

She also condemned fighting and killings in the name of God.

“God is neither a Christian nor a Muslim. He is a spirit. The God that people are fighting for is no God. We are therefore saying stop the killing in the name of God. Nigerians love one another and they have been living and doing business peacefully without rancour.”

Lending her voice, Hon. Archbishop Dr Glory Chy Abughi, National Coordinator and Patron, IFFMGO, said a country that produced the likes of the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has no business relegating its women.

“When it comes to marriage, the man is the head but when it comes to leadership that has to do with the nation, women should be given opportunities like God gave Deborah.

To the women, Archbishop Abughi said: “We want our women to rise and come together in one accord and say no, else the negative trend continues.”
