All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has renewed its call on aggrieved members to bury their hatchet and join hands with others to facilitate victory for the party in the coming election.
It said: “Doing so will not only improve their individual status as noble progressives, but also as heroic democrats.”
The party said it was a fact that none of its governorship aspirants was a misfit, adding that it was undeniable that the least qualified among them was far better than Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or candidates paraded by other parties.
Oyo APC has had its fair share of crisis in recent time, following internal bickering, which greeted its congresses and primaries, as some gladiators and their members who were dissatisfied with the outcomes of the exercises have either pulled out to join other parties or chosen to stay away from core APC activities in protest.
The party has, however, welcomed thousands of aggrieved members of other parties into its fold.
APC in a statement issued yesterday by its state Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, attributed all that happened recently to “inevitable reality of any democratic process, which will always produce mandate custodians on one hand and future winners on the other hand, since it is not possible for all athletes to emerge number one in any sprint or marathon race.”
The state Chairman, Mr. Isaac Omodewu, has said no member of the party would be denied his or her rights to motivation and patronage as a desirable way of compensating them for their services, loyalty and support to the party.
He said the party was ready to improve on its reward system and guarantee sense of pride to every loyal and hardworking member who deserved to be encouraged in all ramifications.
Omodewu spoke at the Oke-Ado, state secretariat of the party during the swearing-in of the Publicity Secretary, Sadare, who joined other State Executive Committee members a few months after their official inauguration.
