Police detectives in Ogun State have arrested a commercial motorcyclist, Emmanuel Thompson, and a suspected accomplice, Joshua Godwin, in connection with the gang-rape of Thompson’s 18-year-old passenger.

The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday and the suspects were arrested after the lady reported it at Ogijo divisional police headquarters, Sagamu.

Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi told newsmen yesterday that the girl boarded a commercial motorcycle at about 8am on Tuesday near MRI, a company, to Ogijo bus stop but on the way, the rider picked up another passenger, a male.

Oyeyemi said that in a curious twist, the bike man suddenly diverted to another route and the other male passenger started threatening to kill her if she did not cooperate with them.

“The lady said they forcibly took her to a room in one house in the area, where two other men were waiting for them. On getting there, the two men they met in the room and the one that boarded the bike took turns to have sex with her forcibly,” Oyeyemi stated.

The police spokesman said the two suspects confessed to the alleged crime.
