A group, ‘Yoruba Koya’, has warned the Yoruba on their choice of presidential candidate in the 2023 general election. It said competence should be their priority not religion.
The body said what happened during the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s era, which was repeated during the June 12, 1993 election when the late Chief MKO Abiola contested the presidential election, should not occur again.

The President, Mr. Sunday Akinyemi, said the Yoruba should not allow religion to divide them by voting against their kinsman in the presidential election.
The National Coordinator, Prince Famuyiwa Fredrick, said ‘Yoruba Koya’ didn’t belong to any political group, but was concerned about the unity and development of the land.
