The factional governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded election in Osun State, Prince Dotun Babayemi has berated the verdict of eviction from the party by ward party executives for organising parallel guber primary and anti-party activities.

The Ward Executive members of Otun Balogun 2, Ayedaade local government area of Osun led by the party’s ward secretary, Ogunleye Bukayo at the party secretariat on Friday had pronounced the expulsion of Babayemi from the party quoting the constitution of PDP.

Bukayo said: “Babayemi organised a parallel governorship primary on March 8th, 2022 against the directive of the National Working Committee of the PDP who conducted its primary at Osogbo township stadium where Senator Ademola Adeleke emerged as the candidate.

‘’Prince Babayemi had engaged in several legal actions against the party and a series of other anti-party activities. While he had lost his cases at the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, he has again instituted legal action against the party at the Supreme Court.

”The Ward Executive Committee of the Party in the exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 57(2) and 59 (1) (g) of the constitution of PDP hereby remove and expel Prince Dotun Babayemi from the People’s Democratic Party. He, therefore, ceases to be a member of the PDP henceforth.”

Meanwhile, Babayemi while responding to the eviction from the party blasted the decision of ward executives describing it as a ruse.

A statement issued by Babayemi through his media aide, Kayode Oladeji, read in part: “Those who carried out the shenanigans they called the expulsion of Omooba Dotun Babayemi from the PDP, are ignorant of the rules that govern the party; they and their sponsors are only being clever by half in their bid to browbeat Babayemi, a man of the people. They are jesters who enjoy amusing themselves.”
