Mailantarki faults Super Eagles B’s preps against Ghana’s Galaxies

Gombe State Governorship candidate Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki has said that the Super Eagles B are not adequately prepared for any major tournament.

The team, made of local-based players, would be playing a crunch African Nations Championship qualifier against the Black Galaxies of Ghana today at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The Galaxies defeated the CHAN Eagles 2-0 in Cape Coast last weekend, and the Nigerians need three unreplied goals to be on the plane to Algeria next year.

Mailantarki, who owns Mailantarki Care Football Club, in an interview with Nigeria Info Abuja, urged the incoming Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board to take preparations for tournaments seriously,

“Honestly, it is just the timing,” he said. “Most of the time we are not serious and this is what the new president or the new board of the NFF should focus on.

“We don’t expect magic to happen, we have always relied on this magic- that something will happen.”

He continued: “We have to plan well, if we plan well definitely something will happen but if we don’t plan well, there is no way we can get desired results.

“I heard the Ghanaian team were in a training camp somewhere in Europe and had a lot of tough matches with a lot of European teams

“If you compare this with our own level of preparations, even on merit, if you are to judge, there is nothing to say, we are wasting our time because we have not prepared for this tournament.

“We have to do things differently and this is the challenge for the new NFF board,” he concluded.
