Govt, firm to promote state’s tourism, culture

Lagos State, in collaboration with Euro Vision Ventures, is set to exhibit the state’s artistic products as well as tourism potential.

Programme Director at Euro Vision Mr Dozie Atueyi, at a briefing, said the partnership would ensure proper harnessing of Lagos music, arts, dance, crafts, culture and tourism potential.

Atueyi said its tourism and cultural potential would be transported for exhibitions in Toronto, Istanbul and London.

He noted that the exhibition:  “Lagos Arts and Tourism Expo”, includes a series of events to be held from October 5 – 9 (Lagos to Istanbul); November 16 -20; (Lagos to London) and December 14 -18 (Lagos to Toronto).

“We are out to project Nigeria … We want to tell people wanting to go abroad that there are opportunities here.

“We will be projecting Lagos aquatic offering, tourism, cultural assets, fabrics of tie and dye, artworks and  crafts.

“This is to make Lagos the most preferred destination for tourism, leisure and business,” Atueyi said.

Founder of Lagos International Jazz Festival Mr Ayoola Sadare, who is a co-partner of the project, said music from the city of Lagos would be projected; Fuji, Jazz and Afrobeats.

He said the project was not a relocation plan for Nigerians to travel abroad but an opportunity for the products of creativity to be exported.

He said the exhibition would market Nigerian music, arts, tourism and culture.

Creative Director at FC Accessories Mr Tosin Olukuade, an expert who turns storytelling of cities to arts, said he would relay the stories of Lagos in works of arts to beexhibited as accessories.

Olukuade said the accessories would be in form of household materials and souvenirs.

Ms Triumph Dominon, sponsorship consultant, hailed the rich and diverse culture of Lagos, urging Nigerians to take pride in their culture.

“I love Nigeria and Lagos State with huge culture, we should appreciate ourselves.

“People said Lagos is crazy but New York is crazier, we must learn to appreciate our Lagos,” said Dominion.
