African Creative Market will proffer solutions to creative challenges, says Johnson

African Creative Market

Organisers of the Africa Creative Market have argued that the market will proffer solutions to creative challenges.

This was made known by Bada Akintunde Johnson, Country Manager, Paramount Global in Nigeria (Owners of MTV Base) and organisers of the African Creative Market.

Johnson made this known while speaking about the intentions of the ACM which was held at Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island, Lagos recently.

“Great potential, great talent, very little structure. That assessment is hard to fault. We have too much talent, almost every Nigerian has one thing they can do excellently and if they were exposed to the right training and have the right structure as it exists in Europe and America we will be running the biggest countries close if not outshining them but there’s no point lamenting about it we’ve got to do something about it and ACM is one of the ways that we have decided to do something about it and we hope that it inspires other people to take a step too in their little way and let’s keep changing the narrative,” said Johnson.

Continuing, Johnson said, “The future looks very glorious as we like to say, first off, it’s a property that doesn’t confuse you in terms of what the value is. African creatives need capacity building, the right network, and access to funding and those are the core pillars of the African Creative Market.

“A lot of leaders in the film spaces, and music spaces have identified small business ventures they would like to back. For instance, the two guys who won the film pitch on Tuesday now have mentors in Europe and America. One of the top guys in BAFTA British Film and Television Academy expressed an interest in working with these young talents and helping them develop their screenplay and that essentially is one of the core reasons why ACM has come to be. ACM is focused on finding practical solutions to some of these problems.”
