About 60 aspiring pilots gathered in Lagos for Pilot Masterclass event organised by Zino Aviation.
The event was held at Legend Hotel by Hilton and was hosted by Captain Zino Mario-Ghae, chief Executive Officer of Zino Aviation.
Aspiring pilots were taught through four intensive sessions, trained on what to do and what not to do as a commercial pilot.
Other topics include secrets, crucial tips, and strategies to implement on their journey as well as pilot licences, flight schools, pilot medicals, how to get employment and how to reduce flight training and living costs, among others.
Captain Mario-Ghae said: “One key thing I emphasise is importance of knowledge because there is nothing more costly than ignorance. Knowledge is power but unfortunately most people are conducting flight training and embarking on the expensive journey of becoming pilots with limited, surface-based information.
‘’As a result, we see student pilots wasting time and spending large funds on training only to come back to Nigeria and remain unemployed’’
‘’Worse still, we have seen many governments and parastatals attempt to train pilots only to waste large resources due to uninformed planning and wrong decision making. A group of pilots even came back to Nigeria with incomplete licences and have been unemployed since.”
He said this could be avoided if they went through the proper channel.
“There is need for what we do at Zino Aviation, and these are some problems we are solving in Nigeria,” he said Caption Zino Mario-Ghae
An aspiring pilot, Oladapo Jegede, said: “It’s my first encounter with a pilot as hardly do you get an opportunity to have such quality time with a pilot. It was wonderful. These were invaluable moments spent with Captain Zino.
“What I enjoyed most about this masterclass was how detailed it was. This made me to build on my existing knowledge of aviation, said.
Captain Zino was once Nigeria’s youngest licensed pilot at 18 years of age.
Zino Aviation is setting up its Lagos office to facilitate its Logistic Management Services for airlines and governments.
