Fast-rising singer, Idotayan John aka Hopingo is set to release the visual for his debut single ‘Intoxicating.’
The budding act disclosed this to The Nation in a recent chat while speaking about his professional music career.
Sharing his journey into music and what inspired him to shoot the video for his latest debut single, he said “I started as a dancer from the dancing I moved to dance choreography like professional dancing. Before going fully into music, I started with music production; I said instead of me producing for people let me have my song that people will vibe to and the rest is history. Meanwhile, during the radio tour, the presenters were like guy make this video now on time let’s see what you got and that’s why everybody is here to support Hopingo, they are here to show they believe in me” he said.
Speaking about the choice of stage name ‘Hopingo’, he said “Actually they gave me the name ‘Hope in God’, then my mum now changed it to Hopingo ‘like Hopingo just go to the world and explore’. So people just started calling me Hopingo and I like the name, right from when I was 10 years old that’s when I had that name.Hopingo who describes his genre of music as Afro-Pop said he was amazed about the success of his debut single which generated over 200,000 plays after release.
