A building housing the secretariat of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Alumni Association and the institution’s Business School (ULBS) was gutted by fire yesterday.
The inferno also affected part of a new generation bank in the institution.
The fire, it was learnt, started from the UNILAG Alumni Association section of the building at about 10am.

An eyewitness told The Nation that an artisan was working at the Alumni block when the fire broke out.
When The Nation visited the scene, the UNILAG Vice Chancellor Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe; Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Academic and Research Prof Bola Oboh; Dean of Students’ Affairs Prof Musa Obalola; Registrar Oladejo Azeez, Director, International Relations, Partnership and Prospects Prof Ibrahim Ismail and ULBS Executive Director Prof Adebamowo were on the scene.
The fire was put out.
