Lagos State yesterday began a five-day training for retirees, organised by Office of the Head of Service.
Head of Service Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola said during the training at Ikeja that the focus on plastic recycling was to give them knowledge, skill and competency to access opportunities in plastic recycling and its value chain.
Muri-Okunola, represented by Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, said the government would assist in building capacity and creating opportunities for private- public sector collaboration.

He said the training was apt and to educate Lagosians on identification and segregation of waste and its disposal, opportunities in waste plastics value chain and others inherent in management of waste.
Managing Director of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, said there were gains in managing plastic waste.
Odumboni said indiscriminate disposal of plastic, the space it occupies at landfills and its non-biodegradable nature had raised concern in recent times.
