A civic data-driven tech organisation, BudgIT, has stressed the importance inclusion in economic development.
Its Global Director, Mr. Oluseun Onigbinde, who spoke during the conferment of awards to deserving personalities at Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos over the weekend, said the forum was convened to celebrate personalities, organisations, and agencies that are championing causes, programmes and initiatives that have positively impacted women’s right, community services, disability rights and inclusion, political activism, civic engagement and action, journalism, human rights and effective service delivery.
Oluseun said the #ACAwards2022 was also a way of celebrating the agency’s 11th anniversary and a way of giving back to the ecosystem.
He said the award would bring about further dialogue on the need to institutionalise a culture of recognising and celebrating the contributions of development leaders to effective governance and an active civic space in Nigeria.
The primary goal of Budgit, according to Oluseun is to engage citizens and give citizens the opportunity to grow bigger.
During the award, popular human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) and skit maker Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, were recognised with the Civic Activism Award.
Opeyemi Oriniowo, Hamzat Lawson, Oreoluwa Lesi and others also graced the event.
Also, an official of Budgit, who identified herself simply as Mrs Adenike, described the event and the process of the finalist is to honor the spotlight and celebrate humans doing ground-breaking innovation and making an impact across the country despite diverse categories.
