The palace of Onitele of Itele-Awori, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State has urged members of the public to disregard story making rounds on social media suggesting that the monarch, Oba Musiliu Ademola Eletu-Ashorota and others risked jail term over contempt of court.
A statement issued by the palace spokesman, Azeem Salako described the suit mentioned in the report as unfounded and misleading.
The statement reads: By this release, the general public is entreated to disregard any such publications and treat it with the contempt it deserves. Since the emergence of our highly respected monarch HRM Oba Musiliu Ademola Eletu-Ashorota, the good people of Itele-Ota Awori kingdom are in high spirit, joyous mood, and unprecedented optimism resulting from the tremendous and unprecedented development ignited by Ashorota’s exemplary leadership, participatory governance, philanthropy, social mobilization for economic empowerment.
‘’ The publication emanated from which can be best described as vexatious litigation purportedly filed to lump and harass the Ogun state government, the All Progressive Congress, and especially its Abeokuta South House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Afolabi Afuape over an alleged sale of the stool of the Onitele of Itele-Otta kingdom to our highly respected Oba His Royal Majesty Oba Alayeluwa Ademola Eletu-Ashorota.

‘’[We would like to first state, that, other than the flimsy innuendo, nowhere in the suit filed or in the said publication was any evidence in support to their dastardly claim found, making the accusation nonetheless a rage and rant having lost the battle to hold back the progress, growth, and development of Itele land. But instead of stooping low and reducing the kingdom to the level of media nuisance, we rather sought to dismiss in its entirety their unfounded claims which aimed at pressing for malicious prosecution and ridiculing the stool of the Onitele of Itele-otta kingdom which these charlatans have never pretended not to accord any respect.
‘’ Thankfully, there is a judgment that affirmed there is no Adogun Atele in the history of Itele-Ota which went from the High Court of Otta, to the Appeal Court in Ibadan. Ditto a subsisting Supreme Court judgment (SC720/2018) as recent as 2020 delivered by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour who having heard the prayers of the appellants (Adogun Atele), apparently irritated by their frivolities, pronounced their appeal as null and void, lacking any merit and to that extent dismissed the case in its entirety.
‘’This is unarguably the most recent Supreme Court judgment on the matter, but it is not unexpected that they will, and as they are carrying about a case that that has been dismissed by the apex court.’’
