A member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/ Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller, has declared that the 2023 general election will be historical with the coming into force, the new amended Electoral Act .
Nigerians, he said will experience as never before a most peaceful election free from rigging and electoral violence with the full implementation of the new Electoral Law.
Hon Peller who is contesting for the Oyo North Senatorial District noted that the new Electoral Act signed by President Muhammadu Buhari will make it difficult for politicians to rig elections in 2023.
Two different programmes were put together to mark the demise of the late patriarch of the Peller dynasty, Prof Moshood Abiola Peller ; the 25th remembrance lecture/prayers, and the annual Peller Unity Cup.
Hundreds of friends, and well-wishers of the family of Professor Moshood Abiola Peller, including Islamic clerics, politicians , and traditional rulers gathered to mark the 25th remembrance of the late great magician.
Professor Moshood Abiola Peller was praying in a mosque when he was murdered by unknown gunmen in 1997.

Sheik Bello, while urging the congregation to emulate the good virtues of the late patriarch of the Peller dynasty, prayed for the children and the entire family he left behind.
A day before the 25th anniversary lecture/prayers for the late magician, Hon. Shina Peller commissioned constituency projects located at Iseyin ; including a block of six classrooms , two industrial boreholes, and an Information Communication Technology ( ICT) Centre .
Hon. Peller, while addressing journalists shortly after he handed over some projects to his constituents in Iseyin, declared that the new Electoral Act will make it difficult for politicians to rig elections the way it was done in the past.
The lawmaker who was flanked by the National Secretary of Accord, Dr. Adebukola Ajaja, and other members of the party, further insisted that the amended Electoral Act is already promoting free and fair election devoid of violence.
He explained that the Electoral Act will help to reduce violence in 2023 contrary to what was experienced in previous elections.
Peller spoke further by saying that it is very important for the citizens to work together to give Nigeria the best leadership that the country requires in 2023.
He added that one of the obligations of the House of Representatives was the constituency outreach that is outside oversight functions and law making.
Peller said, “The Electoral Act that we have now, that is the amended Electoral Act is already promoting free and fair election devoid of violence because where you witness violence in election is when people want to carry or snatch ballot boxes and this time around, due to electronic transmission of results, it will be very difficult.
“I believe that it will reduce violence and also people themselves should see that it is time for us to do things right this time around in 2023. We must look beyond top to bottom; top to bottom in Nigeria is a disaster.
“Everybody should wake up and understand that if you have a good candidate across 19 political parties as electorate we should try as much as possible to give them the opportunity to bring the best.
“It is very important for us as citizens to work together to give Nigeria the best leadership that the country requires. God has created Nigeria with so much resources, both human and natural resources but it’s unfortunate that these resources are not translating to best results basically because we have bad leaders. And the only time we have the opportunity to address the leadership of our country is when the country is transiting especially during election year which is going to happen in 2023.”
“So, it is everybody’s responsibility, God will not come down from heaven to rebuild Nigeria for us. Nobody will come from outside to do this for us, we can only get this done during the election period and if the electorate, we begin to speak to ourselves that it’s time for us to look at character and competence , then everybody will work together and elect great leaders .
“As you know, one of the important obligations of the House of Representatives is the constituency outreach that is outside oversight functions and making laws. So, constituency outreach is the ability to be able to facilitate projects that will make lives of the constituency better. So, here today we have been moving from one place to other commissioning projects.”
