Young Nigerian entrepreneur, Charles Alade, has embarked on a project in Oyo State: Project 1000, an initiative that will see him buying 1000 uniforms for male secondary pupils.
He explained his focus on the boy-child. “… the socio-cultural construct of Nigeria’s educational system pointed out a huge focus on the psychological, physical, and cultural needs of the girl-child with little attention paid to the needs of the boy-child…”

Alade said reports showed that some male pupils, especially in Oyo State, were regularly absent from school due to a lack of befitting school uniforms.
He noted that the initiative, with the help of Ministry of Education, selected 10 schools across the state’s 10 zones.
Dignitaries, including Kazeem Bolarinwa, special adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Youths and Sports, attended the event.
